Terms of Service
1. Scope and Provider
These Terms govern your use of the QuestLock mobile application ("App") provided by:

By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Description of the App
QuestLock is a 90-day phone habit program. The App allows you to:
- Complete daily real-life quests to "earn" access to your selected apps
- Use iOS Screen Time features to block selected apps until essential quests are completed
- Track your progress through a goblin character that visually evolves over 90 days as your habits improve
- Earn in-app coins through quests and bonus missions to unlock goblin storylines
- Receive daily insights and motivational coaching within the app
- Enable Night Lock for a distraction-free evening schedule
- Use Emergency Unlock when needed (see Section 6)
- Prove quest completion using camera-based object detection, pose detection, or timers
The App operates entirely on your device. No account or internet connection is required for core functionality.
3. Free and Premium Features
Free features include: app access for the first 3 days of the program, core quest functionality, streak tracking, and app blocking.
Premium subscription unlocks: the full 90-day program, unlimited custom quests, all goblin evolution phases (5 stages), the complete Goblin Chronicles storyline library, bonus missions, daily coach insights, and Night Lock scheduling.
In-app coins are a virtual currency earned through quests and bonus missions. Coins can only be used within the App to unlock goblin storylines. Coins have no monetary value, cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged for real money, and are not refundable.
4. Subscription and Payment
4.1 Subscription Plans
Premium access is available as a recurring subscription (monthly or annual). Prices are displayed in the App before purchase and may vary by region. All prices include applicable VAT.
4.2 Payment and Billing
Subscriptions are billed through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Your Apple ID account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
4.3 Automatic Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings: Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions.
4.4 Price Changes
We may change subscription prices. You will be notified in advance, and your subscription will not automatically renew at the new price without your consent.
4.5 Restore Purchases
You can restore previous purchases at any time using the "Restore Purchases" button in the App's Settings tab.
5. Right of Withdrawal (EU/EEA Consumers)
5.1 General Right of Withdrawal
If you are a consumer resident in the EU or EEA, you have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is 14 days from the date of contract conclusion (i.e., the date of your purchase).

5.2 Consequences of Withdrawal
If you withdraw, we will reimburse all payments received from you without undue delay and no later than 14 days from the day we receive notification of your withdrawal, using the same payment method you used (Apple In-App Purchase refund).
5.3 Early Performance and Loss of the Right of Withdrawal
6. App Blocking, Night Lock, and Emergency Unlock
The App uses Apple's FamilyControls and ManagedSettings frameworks to block apps you select. You acknowledge that:
- You are the sole person responsible for which apps you choose to block.
- You must configure the App correctly for the blocking to function as intended.
- Blocking behavior may vary depending on your iOS version and device settings.
- We are not liable for any consequences arising from apps being blocked or unblocked, including missed communications, notifications, or any other effects.
- This feature requires iOS 16 or later and explicit authorization granted by you during onboarding.
Essential vs. Bonus Quests
Only essential quests count toward unlocking your blocked apps for the day. Bonus quests are optional and earn coins but do not affect app blocking. You are responsible for understanding this distinction before configuring your quests.
Night Lock
Night Lock is an optional feature that keeps selected apps blocked during a scheduled evening period regardless of quest completion. You configure the start and end times. We are not liable for any consequences of apps remaining blocked during a Night Lock period.
Emergency Unlock
The App provides an Emergency Unlock feature that lets you bypass app blocking at any time. By using Emergency Unlock, you acknowledge that you are voluntarily overriding your own blocking settings. We are not liable for any effects on your habit program resulting from use of Emergency Unlock. Repeated use of Emergency Unlock is your sole responsibility.
7. User Responsibilities
- Use the App only for lawful, personal purposes.
- Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App.
- Do not circumvent the app-blocking mechanisms for purposes that violate these Terms.
8. Intellectual Property
All content within the App — including but not limited to the goblin character artwork, quest system, narrative content, and UI design — is the intellectual property of Jan Harenbrock and is protected by copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written consent.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence remain unaffected.
Online Dispute Resolution: The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution (ODR): ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obligated to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board, but we are willing to do so.
12. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
